Empowering Communities with SiteGround

By Francesca Marano, WordPress Community & Partnerships Manager for SiteGround

My official job title says WordPress Community and Partnerships Manager at SiteGround hosting, but you could say my proper role is Chief Hugger. Sadly, there won’t be any hugs this time, but I am nevertheless thrilled that SiteGround is supporting WordCamp Denver, albeit remotely.

Now more than ever, we’d love to share some virtual high-fives with you on Saturday, June 27th, at the SiteGround booth from 9:00 – 12:00 (US Mountain Daylight Time (UTC-6) here: https://meet.google.com/qbi-izth-csq

Come to my talk on making WordPress

At SiteGround we’ve contributed to WordPress and other open-source projects ever since we were born in 2004. In the past few years, we have become more and more involved with local communities where our employees live. We are Meetup and WordCamp organisers, speakers and of course sponsors.

This is also one of the things I will talk about in my Sunday session, “Selfish Contribution”, how to combine healthy business interests with genuine personal involvement and invest both in the community.

A growing number of SiteGround team members are spending part of their time making WordPress. I was honoured to be the release co-lead for WordPress 5.3 and 5.4. My colleagues contribute to different teams (Hosting, Security, Core). We strive to help locally and globally. Many of us are Polyglots by definition since American English is not our native language, so we are active in translating WordPress in different languages.

Meet SiteGround’s Ambassadors, the people who empower communities

Sharing knowledge and being curious are two things that are deeply ingrained in our company life. So it’s just natural that over the years we met many like-minded people that shared our same passion. This is how The SiteGround Ambassadors program was born.

This weekend you’ll be able to meet three of them! Michelle, David and Joe will all be sharing their knowledge with WordCamp Denver attendees and we will be at the booth together on Sunday morning.

We’re all in this together

There won’t be hugs or cups of coffee shared at WordCamp Denver this year, (although if you are local, this sounds like a great opportunity!) but I know I speak for my company and the whole SiteGround team when I say that we admire and support the resilience that is needed to adapt.

We’ll be waiting for you at the virtual SiteGround booth on Sat, June 27 between 10:00 am and 12:00 pm local time, my talk “Selfish Contribution”  on Sat, June 27 at 9:15 am or one of our ambassadors’ sessions: Joe Simpson [Fri, June 26 at 3:20 pm], David Wolfpaw [Fri, June 26 at 4:20 pm], Michelle Schulp [Sat, June 27 at 10:15 am] and we promise to keep listening and trying to help, in true SiteGround form!
